Summit Day

Dear all,

I am sure you have been waiting for news from the team. The good news is that they are now all back safe at camp and the majority made it to Stella Point at 5,739m early this morning. Although this isn't quite the peak (Uhuru at 5,895m) it is such a huge achievement for them all and they should all be incredibly proud.

Tonight they are taking a very well-deserved rest at Millennium Camp before the final descent back to Moshi tomorrow for a large lunch and relax at WeruWeru Lodge!

Blog from today is below:

"A midnight start from Barafu Camp at 4,600m. We started at a slow pace managing to balance our climb and the thin air which always makes walking at this altitude so difficult. The climb was very cold and incredibly physical. As dawn arrived so did 5,000m.  The team continued up the epic scree to arrive at Stella Point 5,739m.Time for pictures and a sharp decent. A truly physical day but worth it for the roof of Africa!"
